The July and August Topic: Our (Corona) Summer

You think this is just an ordinary essay topic for a foreign language exam in which you retell what you did throughout the holidays? Well, think again! Because summer 2020 is different. Tourism is on the brink, travel restrictions are constantly changing as well as security measures and consumer preferences…Those are just some of the topics that make this year’s summer season interesting from a newsmakers’ perspective.

That’s why we invite you to jump in your reporter’s shoes and tell the stories of a long-awaited summer that would, alas, go under the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic despite of all hopes  that the virus will wind down with the coming of the hot weather. Does the Bulgarian seaside look different this year? How does one cross the border to Greece and how do the special anti-pandemic measures of our Southern neighbours for foreign visitors work? Did you already dared flying with an air plane, how did it feel?

You just have to take a look around – changes are everywhere. Show us how the beaches look like, tell us how one can tour the mountains. Talk to Bulgarian and foreign tourists, or tourist, restaurant or hotel business owners, with people who work in the aviation or the transport industry. There are infinite opportunities to cover the topic!

We are looking forward to your reports, interviews and articles in write, video, photo or audio formats on the topic of Our (Corona) Summer” on our editorial email е The best entries will receive prizes!

If you have any questions or you’d like to discuss your ideas with our editorial team, feel welcome to join our traditional monthly editorial meeting that will take place on 15 July, Wednesday, at 16:00 o’clock. In order to participate, you need to register here (in Bulgarian)
